The Museum of Modern Art in Paris is presenting The Power of My Hands, an exhibition bringing together a selection of works by some fifteen women from several countries on the African continent and the diaspora. In Africa, as in other parts of the world, women's activities are unique places of creativity and negotiation. The female artists who capture it seek to translate their relationship to intimate space as well as to the public sphere. They tend to create a territory beyond the silence and invisibility that has long prevailed. The selected works (paintings, photographs, sculptures, videos) reflect this interweaving between memory, family, tradition, religion and imagination.
The Exhibition is part of the Africa 2020 Season.
